When I Look at You |
Wrapped Inside Your Love |
Dreamers see beyond reality.
They alone can touch the sky,
Hear the music yet unplayed,
Have a hope that can not die.
But great perception isn't free
So dreamers pay the price.
The inability to live their dreams
Is a difficult sacrifice.
For what dreamers see as possible
Sometimes just can not be.
The greatest threat to a dreamer
Is this cursed reality.
Like an invisible wall
Between a prisoner and freedom
Reality separates us from
The ideal future we envision.
As dreamers alone are blessed with sight
Beyond the normal scope,
So too are they alone condemned
To the bitterness of undying shattered hope.
Mirror cannot capture
And eyes, but dimly see
The height and breadth
of beauty
Revealed by love to me.
For mirrors reflect the
surface
And eyes, the outer
shell
But love is like a
dipper
Drawing deeply from a
well.
The walls are high, the
mortar strong
Built up with pain and
doubt.
Many a soul in passing
Would not stop to search
this out.
But I was dry and sensed
within
This solitary place
A nectar, cool and
quenching.
So I paused, then
saw...your face!
To see such beauty
hidden
Deep behind that cool
facade
Broke my heart so I
reached out
To touch this wounded
child of God.
One by one the stones
came down.
The mortar held no
longer.
My love got past, I
drank at last
From this precious,
hidden water.
No longer dry, I paused
to look
At the stones upon the
ground.
Puzzled to see so many
Lying scattered all
around.
My love alone was not
enough...
Nor was your well so
guarded...
Then I looked up and saw
you
And YOUR dipper filled
with water.
I knew at last, that I
too
Had slipped beyond one’s
normal reach
In a well of my own
making,
Every bit of yours as
deep.
But as my love had
dipped
Beyond you wall and
sought you out,
Your love swept past my
fear and pain
And shattered every
doubt.
Wells behind us, hearts
entwined,
We explore this world
above.
Our souls are finally
sated,
Satisfied by love.
So mirror cannot capture
And eyes, but dimly see
The beauty of this
miracle:
Our love has set us
free.
You are one of the people
On whom I depend.
You give of yourself
Just because you're a friend.
You expect no reward
For the kindness you give,
But the Father above
Knows that each day you live
You're an oasis of love in the desert of life,
A gentle reminder of God's holy light.
You help replace my doubts and fears
With a hope from above. New joy springs eternal
From the oasis of love.
You're a shoulder to cry on
When my world falls apart.
You're a doctor who helps mend
The breaks in my heart.
With a sweet, loving spirit,
That never condemns,
You patiently tend
To the needs of your friend.
You're an oasis of love in the desert of life,
A gentle reminder of God's holy light.
You help replace my doubts and fears
With a hope from above. New joy springs eternal
From the oasis of love.
And on that final day
When we shall ascend
To reign with the Lord
In a life without end,
The joy that you gave
To so many on earth
Will now be returned
In an eternity's worth.
You're an oasis of love in the desert of life,
A gentle reminder of God's holy light.
You help replace my doubts and fears
With a hope from above. New joy springs eternal
From the oasis of love.
So many years have passed since the day I found you
And life has had so many twists and turns since then.
Looking back at reflections of our conversations I can't help but see
A simpler time where all the words rhymed and your Spirit inspired me.
I remember a simple faith, where there were no shades of gray.
Truth and lies were black and white, and your people were always right.
There were no doubts in this heart of mine.
Your word was sure and easily applied. The cross was all I needed to survive,
with my simple faith.
But time has come between simplicity and I.
Situations of my own making and situations beyond my control
Have scattered the light that once shown so bright, and faded to gray what was
once black and white,
leaving only the shadowy memory of times long ago.
I remember a simple faith, where there were no shades of gray.
Truth and lies were black and white, and your people were always right.
There were no doubts in this heart of mine.
Your word was sure and easily applied. The cross was all I needed to survive,
with my simple faith.
I long for the day when true restoration appears.
That time yet to come will be like long ago:
The ending of all doubts and fears
I am longing for that simple faith, where there are no shades of gray.
Truth and lies will be black and white, and your people will be truly right.
The doubts will fly from this heart of mine.
You'll speak to me and I will hear this time, I will know as I am known when I
Receive my simple faith.
I will know as I am known when I receive my simple faith.
The birds bring in the
springtime
With songs of joy and
love.
Their chittering and
twittering
Bring sunshine from
above.
Their song appears to
melt the snow
Of winter’s icy reign,
But ne’er melt they my
heart as cold
As any winter rain.
The ray of light that
melts my heart
I shall never feel,
For your true love is
the vital part
I lack to make me real.
The bird’s spring,
brought by song,
May remain for a while,
But then it’s gone,
Leaving only the
remembrance of a smile.
My heart craves the
warming light
Only your love can
bring,
Which would take my
heart’s icy night
And leave only eternal
spring.
When I look at you I see
so much more than face or features,
Cunningly crafted
container to the treasure stored within.
When I look at you I see
small glimpses through the window of your soul,
Which compel me with
gentle promises of constance and abiding.
When I look at you I
know at last, that I've come home.
There's a sense of peace
and happiness like none I've ever known.
When I look at you I see
my playmate, who stirs the sleeping child.
You dare me to dream and
hope and grow and truly enjoy my life.
When I look at you I see
my destiny, and all my dreams fulfilled.
Two halves, one whole,
two hearts, one soul finally complete.
When I look at you and
see the love that lights up your eyes,
I am breathless with
wonder at the miracle...
When I look at you.

Our eyes meet in the twilight
As the busy day winds down.
At last we have found time to get away.
The stresses of the morning
And the pressures of the day
Seem much smaller now, I want to always stay
Wrapped inside your love,
Where my doubts and fears can't reach me.
Wrapped inside your love
Where my wounded heart is healing.
I hear you whispering for me to come away
From the busyness and troubles of the day,
And when the morning comes I long just to remain
Wrapped inside your love.
Before you came into my life
My heart was all but cold.
Love and trust were foreign to my soul.
But now just one look from you
And my hope is restored.
My heart of coal will be a diamond one day,
for I am . . .
Wrapped inside your love,
Where the doubts and fears can't reach me.
Wrapped inside your love,
Where my wounded heart is healing.
I hear you whispering for me to come away
From the busyness and troubles of the day,
And when the morning comes I long just to remain
Wrapped inside your love.
And though I leave the warmth of your embrace
To face the struggles of the day,
Your memory lingers like a beacon in the night.
So I am . . .
Wrapped inside your love,
When the doubts and fears assail.
Wrapped inside your love,
Where storms of life can not prevail.
Your gentle whispers help me make it through the day,
And the troubled times just seem to fade away.
Each morning is a blessing for it means another day
Wrapped inside your love.
